Ellen Lankford House, 71, of West Ninth Avenue, died Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 10, at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Jeff Walser and Carol Pusey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service. Mrs. House was born January 22, 1945, in Wilkes County to Joseph Cornelius Lankford and Mamie Childress Lankford. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy, Roy, Troy and Robert Lankford; and sister, Velma Darnell. Surviving are her loving husband, Thomas “Buck” House of the home; son, Tony Shoaf and wife, Delphia of Lexington; daughter, Vicky Sparks and husband Pete of Lexington; stepson, Scott House and wife Jennifer of High Point; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jean Brown of High Point, Margie Wall of Lexington, Una Holifield of Dobson, and Betty Tilley of Winston-Salem.
