Elmer Ree Ashby

Elmer Ree Ashby age 88 of Winston Salem passed away Monday, November 7th, 2016 at his home with family by his side.   A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 12th 2016 at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Doug Miller officiating.   The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.   Elmer was born December 12, 1927 in Stokes County to Reggie Ree Ashby and Minna Fagg Ashby. He was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church and was retired from the City of Winston Salem. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brother and one sister.   Surviving are his wife of 69 years Jane Hines Ashby of the home, sons; Bobby Ree Ashby and wife Roseanne of Winston Salem, Lonnie Jay Ashby and wife Betty of Clemmons, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.   The family would like memorials sent to: Canaan United Methodist Church (The Lords Table) 1760 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston Salem, NC 27107, Hospice & Palliative Care Centers of Forsyth County, Winston Salem, NC 27103.   Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Road is assisting the family.
