Elmer Sylvanis Clontz Jr., 65, of South NC Highway 150, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at his home.
A graveside service with military graveside rites will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Brock Shanks officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home prior to the graveside service and other times at the home.
Mr. Clontz was born June 27, 1949, in Rowan County, to Elmer Sylvanis Clontz Sr. and Texie Money Clontz. He was retired from Duracell and a member of Churchland Baptist Church. Mr. Clontz had proudly served in the U.S. Army where he earned the Bronze Star for his service during the Vietnam Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Diane Styers Clontz.
Surviving are brother, David Clontz of Linwood; sisters, Martha Rowe and husband Mike of Linwood, Janie Lanning and husband Jeff, Mary Kossel, all of Lexington, and Gayle Hand of Salisbury; and nieces and nephews, Christie Lewis, Angel Lanning, Tabitha Hand, Jeff Lanning Jr. and Eric Hand.
