Elva Link Gatewood

Elva Link Gatewood, 81 of Dewey Lane passed away Monday morning at her home after a serious illness of two months. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday (9-2-2009) at Church of Christ at Arcadia, with Tony Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. She was born February 23, 1928 in Davidson County to Coston Lee Link and Mae Craver Link. She worked earlier in her life at Henry Link Furniture and was a member of Church of Christ at Arcadia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William (Jim) Gatewood, who died March 11, 1993 and a sister Norene Essick. Surviving are: three daughters, Pamela Gatewood of Welcome, and Vonnette Hedrick and husband Tim and Ann Owens and husband Terry all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Timothy Hedrick, Jr., Terry Lee Owens, Jr., Samuel Hedrick, Elizabeth Owens and Hannah Hedrick; two sisters, Barbara Everhart and husband Von and Sue Seymour and husband Dennis all of Welcome. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory-Tree Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday.
