Elzie Morrison "Marcel" Maready

Elzie Morrison “Marcel”  Maready, age 76, of Lexington passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at North Lexington Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Floyd and Pastor Gavin Pratt officiating. A graveside service will be held at the Amos-Lanier Cemetery in Chinquapin, NC on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 1:00 pm by the Rev. Sammy Shepard.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Maready was born in Duplin County on July 6, 1943 to Elzie Edward Maready and Gladys Suggs Maready. He was a retired truck driver, having worked for Billings and was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Maready; and one deceased grandchild.

Surviving are his mother, Gladys Suggs Maready of Morehead City, step-son, Jimmy Flynn (Anna) of Laurel, MD; two daughters, Viki Maready Abate and Deborah Maready Hill; two step-daughters, Sonya Ann Morris and Terri Darlene Bailey; one brother, James Michael Mareday (Bonnie) of Greensboro; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
