Emanuel Gray Koontz, age 83 of Simerson Road, Linwood passed Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Glen Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at Madison Heights Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 until 2:00 pm Tuesday and at other times at the home.
Gray was born in Davidson County, October 15, 1932 to Emanuel Whitson and Sara Jane Everson Koontz. He was a carpenter and retired from Orrells Food Service. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Timothy Koontz; sisters, Pauline Lomax, Mildred Snider, Florence Koontz and Edna Morgan; brothers, Robert Koontz, Earl “Jack” Koontz, Walter Alvin “Abby” Koontz and Melvin Alton Koontz.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Julia “Judy” Hand Koontz of the home; daughters, Cathy Koontz Koonts (Craig) of Lexington, Teresa Koontz (Donnie Burton) of Advance and Tonya Koontz Crisp of Lexington; sons, Emanuel Gray Koontz, Jr. of Salisbury and Terry Wayne Koontz (Rachel Cable) of Lexington; one stepson, Dennis Hamilton (Tessa) of Mocksville; 2 stepdaughters, Tammy Hege (Tracy), and Bonita Sink (Mike); 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Carol Burkhart (Gary) of Lexington and Arlene Hedrick (Ernest) of Tyro.
