Emil Joseph Botsch, of Fancy Gap, Virginia and formerly of Lexington , NC died Sunday
in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday May 11, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Lexington, conducted by Dr. Ray Howell, 3rd and Dr. Lawrence Childs. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Botsch was born May 19, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York to Conrad Botsch and Martha Anna Fischer Botsch. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in World War II and a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge, and also a member of the VFW Post in Hillsville, VA.
Mr. Bostch moved to Lexington in 1954 to start the natural gas department for the city and retired in 1985 as superintendent of the gas department. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsville, VA and a former member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Lexington.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Margaret Matthews Botsch of the home; Sons, Robert E. Bostch and wife Carol of Aiken, SC and Joseph C. Botsch of the home; Daughters, Jane B. Hutchison and husband, Stuart, of Wayne, NJ and Dorothy B. Fahey and husband Kevin of Fort Collins, CO; six grandchildren, David and Matthew Botsch, Shelley Martin, Zackary Martin, Dylan Hutchison and Diana Nelson; Great-granddaughter, Lynette Nelson.
The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 until 8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
