Emma Mae Byerly, 88, formerly of Chestnut Street, Lexington, died Tuesday, March 08, 2011, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Lexington City Cemetery, with the Rev. Derek Boggs officiating. Miss. Byerly was born April 8, 1922, in Davidson County, to Edward Cleveland Byerly and Betty Chloe Aderholdt Byerly. She was a 1942 graduate of University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a private piano teacher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, James E. Byerly; and sister, Helen Frances Byerly. Surviving are brother, Manly Byerly and wife, Norma, of Lexington; uncle, Dr. Mark Aderholdt of Thomasville; and a niece Betty Ann Byerly. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 308, Lexington, NC 27293.
