Erik Todd Duggins, of Linwood, North Carolina passed away on October 24, 2025 at the age of 63. Erik was born on June 17, 1962, in Lexington, to John Edward Duggins and Essie Sue Cope Duggins.
Erik lived a life characterized by warmth, creativity, and a deep commitment to his family and those he knew.Erik's journey began in Lexington, where he grew up alongside his brother, Mitchell Duggins. He attended West Davidson High School before pursuing further education at Davidson County Community College. Throughout his life, Erik was admired for his sharp intellect and boundless kindness. Those who knew him best described him as patient, always ready to lend a hand, and exceptionally hardworking.Professionally, Erik dedicated over two decades to the field of technology and communications. He served the public safety community at Coates Communications, where he provided and supported mission-critical radio services. Later, as a self-taught software engineer, Erik concluded his distinguished career at MedCost.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Erik found immense joy in helping others. He volunteered as a firefighter at the Churchland Fire Department, leaving a legacy of selflessness and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those around him. Erik also cherished the simple and quiet pleasures of life, particularly spending time with his family. He found solace and joy in hiking through the majestic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. A skilled and creative woodworker, Erik crafted numerous items, from furniture for his family to intricate musical instruments. One of his passions was playing and making mountain dulcimers, a testament to his love for music and creativity. Erik possessed a natural talent for mentorship, always eager to share his knowledge and assist others in their pursuits, both at work and in his personal life.Erik's relationships with his children and grandchildren were a profound source of happiness, and he leaves behind a lasting impression of love and guidance.
Erik was preceded in death by his father, John Edward Duggins.
Those left to cherish and remember Erik are his son, Derrick Duggins and wife Erin, and his daughter, Andrea Duggins and Fiance Zach, and his mother, Essie Sue Cope Duggins. Erik was a proud grandfather to Bryce, Lawson, Michael, David, Audrey, Jacob and Ellie. He also leaves behind his brother, Mitchell Duggins and wife Elizabeth. Erik's life was a testament to the power of kindness, generosity, and the enduring ties of family and friendship. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.A visitation will be held for family and friends to celebrate and remember Erik on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. Erik’s remains will be scattered at a private service later, in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.
