Ernest Eugene Hedrick

Ernest Eugene Hedrick, 86, of Tyro, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 18, 2020.

A private funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 21 ^st at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Danny Sams and Ben Jordan and live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome/ .  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Mr. Hedrick was born October 5, 1933 in Davidson County to Cletus Harold and Ethel Perryman Hedrick.  He retired from Western Electric/AT&T after 35 years and was a volunteer fireman at Tyro Fire Department.  He also was an amateur Ham radio operator with a call sign of WA4NSD.  His parents; daughter, Gaile Tiller; his sister, Mildred Brinkley, and infant brother, Richard Hedrick, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Arlene Koontz Hedrick of the home; his daughters, Jeane H. Sams (Danny) and Rita H. Thorne (Gerald), both of Lexington, and Debbie H. Owens (Michael) of Rutherfordton.  He was blessed by 9 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by sisters, Betty Marlene Shoaf (Leroy) of Lexington, Opal Jordan (Ben) of Canon, GA, and brother, Leroy Hedrick (Kathy) of Lexington.
