Ervin Martin Hunter, 92, of Lantanna Avenue, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at the home of his son, Frank Hunter.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Revs. David Shaffer and Lewis Hunter. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Southland Memorial Gardens in Columbia, S.C.
Mr. Hunter was born Aug. 13, 1914, in Rock Hill, S.C., to Lewis Ervin Hunter and Ola Costner Hunter. He retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections and served in the Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Currin Hunter, on May 27, 1997, and by his parents and a sister, Olivia Miles.
Surviving are two sons, E.M. Hunter Jr. and his wife, Sonjia, of Lilburn, Ga., and Frank Hunter and his wife, Margaret, of Lexington; four grandchildren; Cathie Hunter-Greenberg and her husband, Marc, of Lula, Ga., Becca Campbell and her husband, Lee, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Kimberly Hunter of Charlotte and Melissa Hunter of Lexington; five great-grandchildren, Graham Campbell, Noah Campbell, Caroline Campbell, Libby Greenberg and Emmy Greenberg; and a brother, L.E. Hunter and his wife, Ada, of Coffeen, Ill.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, and other times at the home of his son, Frank Hunter, 303 Sequoya Road, Lexington.
