Essie Murphy Patton age 99 of Winston-Salem formerly of Philadelphia, PA passed away Friday, June 17th 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Garden of Memory Mausoleum Chapel in Walkertown with Minister Cynthia Dixon.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service in the mausoleum chapel.
Essie was born May 18th 1917 in Spartanburg County SC to Mamie Greer Murphy and Fincher Murphy. She retired from US Defense Logistics Agency of Cumberland, PA and a member of Thankful Baptist Church, Philadelphia, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; James Patton Sr., a son; James Patton Jr., a daughter; Mary Louise Baskerville, two grandchildren; Kia and Brad, five sisters and ten brothers.
Surviving are her sisters; Mariah Edwards of Warrington, PA and Sally Johnson of Spartanburg, SC, two grandsons; Troy and Maurice Patton, nephew/caregiver; Curtis Dixon of Winston Salem and a host of nieces and nephews, special caregivers; Cheryl Dixon-Samuels and Nakysha Wilson.
