Estel Leon Dobey, age 79 of Lexington, passed away Saturday March 29, at Hinkle Hospice House after a period of declining health.A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Miller officiating. The family will see friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the home.
Estel was born in Davidson County May 13, 1934 to Estel Oren Dobey and Addie Mae Brodgon Dobey. He worked in the bridge construction industry retiring as project superintendent and attended Bethesda United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, a brother Fred Dobey and a sister Geraldine Troutman. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ruth Hinkle Dobey of the home; sons Kent Dobey (Sharon) and Larry Dobey; daughters Rita D. Gebe (Jack) and Sandy Weisner (Jeff) all of Lexington; nine grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and brother Rev. Rex Dobey of Houston TX.Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or Bethesda United Methodist Church, 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington NC 27295.The family would like to thank his granddaughter Tara and Hospice of Davidson County for their compassionate and loving care of Estel and Ruth during his illness.
