Estelle Younts Mcleod

Estelle Younts McLeod, 82, of Thomason Street, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at her home after two years of declining health and two weeks in critical condition. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Second United Church of Christ, where she was a member, by the Rev. Jerry Moore. Burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery. Mrs. McLeod was born May 24, 1924, in Davidson County to James Franklin Younts and Bessie Lee Dorsett Younts. A former employee of Manhattan Shirt Manufacturing, she was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and American Legion Post 8 Ladies Auxiliary. She taught an industrial seamstress class at Davidson County Community College. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cossie McKee McLeod, April 7, 2003; two brothers, Elisten Younts and James Younts; and a sister, Hazel Myers. Surviving are three daughters, Joyce Weaver and her husband, Ronald E., and Shelia Ramsey and her husband, Tom, all of Lexington, and Cathy Hill and her husband, Lee Hill Jr., of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Jeff Nance and his wife, Sheryl, and John Alexander Hill, all of Winston-Salem, Tara Skelton and her husband, Leonard, of Richmond, Va., and Matthew McKee Hill of Durham; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, Mike Ramsey and Lisa Doran and her husband, Jim, all of Apex; and one brother, Elwood Younts and his wife, Mayo, of Lexington The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, and other times at the home.
