Esther Morton Colson

Esther Morton Colson, 80 of John Wright Road, Lexington died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the home of her daughter on Riverview Boulevard. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with the Rev. Clayton Stoneman officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Colson was born on April 18, 1927 in Anson County to Willie Stacy Morton and Rosa Lewis Morton. She retired from Burlington Industries and was of the Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Lowder Colson, Sr. who died January 24, 2004; four brothers, Blair Morton, Aston Morton, Dennis Morton, and Thomas Morton; three sisters Nannie Marsh, Annie Marsh, and Mollie Oliver; and a daughter-in-law Carolyn Colson. Surviving are her son Kenneth L. Colson, Jr. and a daughter Karen Colson Marshall and husband Ronald, all of Lexington; five grandchildren Philip Colson, Kevin Colson, Michael Colson, Wayne West, and Kent West; a great-grandson Carl West; and four sisters, Cassie Lett of Laurinburg, Lois Boysworth of Lexington, Agnes Gay, and Stacy Vick both of Norwood. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Tuesday prior to the service at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter.
