Ethel Mae Hartman James, 84 of Giles Rd., Lexington, died Monday, September 28, 2009 at Abbotts Creek Care Rehabilitation Center after an illness of 2 months. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Rolling Heights Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Sechrest officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. James was born in Davidson County on November 6, 1924 to Orville Lee Hartman and Viola Fishel Hartman. She was a homemaker and a member of Rolling Heights Faith Baptist Church where she was a former choir member. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Foy Lee James and brothers, Gene Hartman, C. D. Hartman, sisters Ruby Weaver and Edna Essick. Surviving are sons Glenn James and wife Virginia of Lexington; Grady James and wife Shirley of Clemmons; Garland James of Lexington; Melvin James and wife Shirley; Vernon James all of Lexington and Van James of Oregon, grandchildren, David James; Tina Cooper and husband Earl, Mary Ann McGee and husband Keith, Eric James and wife Angie, Daniel James and wife Megan, Andrea Swicegood and husband Brian, Julie Sink and husband Scott, Mindy Thornton and husband Josh, Amy James, Damon James and Holly James, great grandchildren, Tressa McGee, Tanner McGee, Noah James, Benjamin James, Emily Swicegood, Jacob Swicegood, Trad Sink, Hali Sink, Heaven Thornton, Serenity Thornton, Kierra Berretta and Trent Berretta, brother John Hartman and Wayne Hartman and wife Rhonda both of Clemmons and sister Emma Jane Locklear and husband Lynn of Roanoke, VA The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times a the home of her son, Glenn James, 1815 Giles Rd.
