Ethel Chapman Swift

Ethel Francis Chapman Swift, 87, of Lexington, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. Ed Armfield. Mrs. Swift was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Catawba County to Nicholas and Adaline Chapman. She was a self-employed beautician and a member of Garden City Baptist Church in Garden City, S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Holt Swift; one brother, Vernon Chapman; and two sisters, Etta Mae Jordan and Lucy Chapman. Survivors include a daughter, Willa Pelletier and her husband, James, of Denton; a grandchild, Gerald E. Sullenberger III; and a sister, Beatrice Yarbrough. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1315 Ashleybrook Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
