Etrulia Burkhart Duffey, 88, of Owens Road, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Hinkle Hospice House after declining health of six months.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Second Reformed United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dr. William B. Strout Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son on Beck’s Church Road.
Mrs. Duffey was born August 31, 1923, in Davidson County, to Samuel C. Burkhart and Manora Tysinger Burkhart. She was a retired supervisor of Siceloff Manufacturing. At her church she was a member of the choir for 60 years; and avid cook for the Men’s Fellowship and a member of the Women’s Circle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas “Pete” Duffey, who died Nov. 1, 1999.
Surviving are son, Doug Duffey and wife, Linda, of Lexington; daughter, Mary Ruth McCarn and husband, Paul, of Lexington; five grandchildren, Jeff McCarn and wife, Bobbie, Angie Yarbrough and husband, Steven, Wende Rabon, Phil McCarn and wife, Gina, and Chris Duffey and wife, Meredith; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Troy Burkhart Kines of Lexington; and special caregivers, Ruby Starnes and Tina Leonard of Lexington.
