Eva Rae Swing Clark

Eva Rae Swing Clark, 87, of Lexington NC, passed away Tuesday February 13, 2024.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Mt Tabor United Church of Christ with Pastor Larry Gipson and Chris Smith officiating the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am–10:45 am at the church.  A burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Eva Rae was born March 2, 1936, to Cletus Ray Swing and Pauline Everhart Swing. She graduated from Davis-Townsend High School in 1954.  She proudly graduated from Appalachian State Teachers College in 1958. She started her teaching career in Carthage NC where she meets her true love, Tommy. They married on June 28,1959. After they married, they moved to Robbins, NC and she continued teaching at Elise High School until North Moore High School opened in 1965. She taught Home Economics and Family Living at North Moore until her retirement in 1988. She was very talented with her crafting skills and loved to spread those skills to her students. In her retirement she continued teaching doll making at her home. Many people in the Lexington area made dolls for their children and grandchildren. Her favorite holiday was Christmas! She was known as Santa’s Seamstress for making Cliff Snider numerous Santa suits. Especially meaningful was the Patriotic Stars and Stripes Santa suit.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Tommy Shaw Clark Sr. of 54 years, her parents, brothers: Franklin Swing and Kenneth Swing, and sisters: Vivian Crouse and Shirley Phillips. She is survived by her sons Tommy “Tee” Shaw Clark (Melanie) of Holly Springs and Neil Swing Clark (Terri) of Lexington; 6 grandchildren: Anna Nelson (Steven), David Clark (Samantha), Alexis Street, Kendall Clark, Nicholas Clark (Christina), Megan Lotito (Michael); 6 great grandchildren and a seventh one due in April. She was very proud of her sons and bragged about them to everyone.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt Tabor UCC Church- general fund or Hospice of Davidson County.
