Mrs. Eva George Roach, 94, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Center United Methodist Church in Welcome. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 17, at Davidson Funeral Home - Hickory Tree Chapel.
Mrs. Eva G. Roach, "Grandma," was born Oct. 16, 1911, near Chatham, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Calvin Luther George and Arealia Blankenship George; her husband, John Downey Roach; 10 brothers and sisters; twin sons; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Trammel.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Dean Trammel, and husband Dr. Jake of Browns Summit and Rita Jones and husband Pete of Welcome. She has six grandchildren, Petey Jones, Dawn Essick and husband Joe of Welcome, Jenny Jones of Huntersville, April Storey and husband Josh of Charlotte, Jerry Trammel and wife Ann of Browns Summit and John Trammel and wife Tracy of Gibsonville.
The family would also like to give tribute to special friends of the family, Diana Edwards and Andy Myers. She has seven grandchildren, Leah, Erin, Jace, Eve and Jake Trammell, Emily Essick, Tanner Jones and Parker Storey.
She was employed by Burlington Industries Cameo Division in Greensboro. She was a member of Monticello United Church of Christ, Browns Summit, where she served as Sunday school teacher, in women's fellowship and as president and choir member for over 25 years. Also she was a Girl Scout leader. For the past 30 years, she attended Center United Methodist Church, where she joined the Methodist Women and "open door" Sunday school class. Eva loved to cook, read, travel and spend time with her family and friends. She was an avid sports fan, especially for the Tar Heels and the North Davidson Black Knights where she enjoyed special seating. For the past few years, she enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society.
