Evadene Gregory Weaver

With deep love and appreciation for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Evadene Gregory Weaver, who left us peacefully on June 30, 2025, at the age of 93. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Evadene Millsaps Gregory was born on May 28, 1932 as the eldest daughter to Dave Mansfield Gregory & Dorothy Millsaps Gregory. She was raised in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina alongside her younger sisters Betty Jo, Doris, Ruby, & Rosie. Her lifelong talent in the kitchen began early — standing on a chair to reach the counter, eager to learn and quick to master the art of cooking.

Evadene married H.C. Weaver, and together they established their home in Churchland, North Carolina. There, they built and maintained a working farm, raising cattle, pigs, and chickens, and cultivating tobacco. Evadene had a deep love for gardening, canning vegetables, and took great pride in tending to her flower beds — a passion she nurtured throughout her life, continuing it with care and joy until her final days.

Her feisty nature was a hallmark of her character. To know her was to be welcomed like family; many considered her a grandmother in spirit, whether related by blood or not.

She is survived by those who loved her the most- sons Bobby Weaver (Brenda) & David Weaver (Pam), daughter-in-law Barbara Weaver; grandchildren- Jessica Crabb (Ray), Johnathan Weaver, David “Buzzy” Weaver, Lori Milam (Scott), & Brandon Weaver (Peyton); great grandchildren- Krysta Christ, Nathan Rabon, Brittny Goforth (Travis), Randi Gibson,  Brice Weaver (Kylee), Ashe Weaver, Brett Milam, & Tyler Milam; great-great grandchildren Eisley Christ, Gauge Goforth, & Nash Goforth; special friends- Helen Whitley, Patty Johnson, Darlene Hill, & Mary Lambeth. Her absence is deeply felt, but so too are the memories and the love she leaves behind

Evadene is reunited in eternal rest with her parents, younger sisters, husband, infant daughter Beavann, son Kennneth, and grandson Kevin.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Smith Grove Baptist Church at 11AM. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church beginning at 10AM, prior to the service.
