Evelyn Mary Lou Gilliland

Evelyn Mary Lou Curry Gilliland, 91, of Old Salisbury Road, passed away Tuesday, August 18th, at Alston Brook Nursing Home after three years of declining health. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 21st, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Bitterman and Pastor Francis Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Beethoven Avenue. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service and at other times at the home of her sister Geraldine Scott on Sink Circle. Mrs. Gilliland was born in Davidson County, on November 20, 1923, to Homer Franklin Curry and Annie Phillips Curry. She retired from Dixie Furniture after 42 years of service and was a charter member of Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Gilliland; brothers, Jesse Roy Curry, Thomas Curry and Don Curry; and sisters Mildred Sowers and Rachel Hobbs. Surviving are sisters, Geraldine Scott (Benny), Betty Crowell and Lena Church (Walter), all of Lexington; and brother Homer Curry (Linda) of Lexington.
