Evelyn Garner Hanes, age 89, formerly of E. US Highway 64, Lexington, passed away Friday, September 5 at Carolina House after several months of declining health.
Funeral services will be held Monday September 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at Becks Lutheran Church where she was a member, by the Rev. Angie Jackson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the service.
Evelyn was born in Davidson County January 12, 1925 to Charlie Clyde and Jessie Parks Garner. She was a former employee of Siceloff Mfg, and Manhattan Shirt Factory. She later retired from Duracell. Her husband, Harlan Odell Hanes, preceded her in death, as well as her sisters, Nadine Leonard and Sandra Swing.
Surviving are sisters, Carnell Ferrell (Harold) of Wallburg, Betty June Ball, Lorraine Weaver (Bill), and Margaree Broadway, all of Lexington; brothers, Dale Garner (Treva) and Fred Garner (Nancy) all of Lexington; brothers in law, Tommy Leonard, and Benny Swing, both of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
