Evelyn Fritts Hayes

Evelyn Belle Fritts Hayes, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at North Lexington Baptist Church, with Pastor Gavin Pratt officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Evelyn was born in Davidson County, NC, on February 8, 1936, to Shirley Ardd Fritts and Moleta Jane Biesecker Fritts. She built a long and dedicated career as an executive secretary for Lexington Telephone, where she took great pride in her work and the relationships she formed. Above all, Evelyn was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother who cherished her family and the time she spent with them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Buster Fritts and Barry Fritts, and her sister, Rachel Shytle.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Zack Hayes (Kathy); her sister, Carolyn Haden; her three beloved granddaughters, Payton Hayes, Cassidy Hayes, and Addison Hayes; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Evelyn's caregivers, Dr. Jeff Williamson and his staff, Hospice of Davidson County, and Pastor Gavin Pratt and her North Lexington Baptist Church family, for their love and support during her final days.

Evelyn will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering dedication to her family, and her faith. Her legacy of love will live on in all who knew her.
