Evelyn Lowe Reece

November 28, 1935 — April 18, 2017

Evelyn Lowe Reece, 81, formerly of Lexington, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2018 at Chesapeake Place Assisted Living in Chesapeake, VA. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Davidson Funeral Home on May 9, 2017 at 2 pm.  Burial will be private. Evelyn was born November 28, 1935 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Grady Patterson and Stella Halsey Lowe. Evelyn graduated from Woman’s College (now UNC-Greensboro) in 1958 with a BA in Elementary Education.  She taught in the Lexington City School system until she retired in 1991.  After she retired, she continued to share her gifts by working in adult education at Davidson County Community College. In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Davis Nance Reece.  Davis and Evelyn worshiped for many years at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Stella Weiss (Bill) of Chesapeake, VA and Beth Reece Grove (Matthew) of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Patrick Weiss, Benjamin Weiss, Alexa Weiss; sister, Libby Stanley (Kenneth) of Henderson, NC; brother, Elvin Lowe (Sally) of Playa del Rey, CA; and nephews, Ryan and Derek Stanley. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Home Instead Senior Care in Jacksonville, FL, Chesapeake Place Assisted Living, and Hospice and Palliative Care of Tidewater, VA who gave Evelyn and her family excellent care as well as many wonderful and happy memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Davidson County Public Library, 602 South Main Street, Lexington, NC  27292 Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
