Evelyn Swing Sheppard, age 83, a lifelong resident of Lexington passed away Friday morning (June 10, 2011) at Lexington Health Care, after a prolonged illness. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday (June 13, 2011) at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Derek Boggs officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Sunday night from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
Evelyn was born in Davidson County, February 4, 1928 to David Hill Swing and Mae Lohr Swing. She attended Lexington Senior High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College. She was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church and worked as a legal secretary for 40 years. Family, church, friends, community and Bridge were her passions. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carrol Lamon Sheppard on June 29, 1993.
Surviving are; two daughters, Lynne Quiroga and husband Albert of Boca Raton, FL and Debbie Everett and husband Bob of Cary; one son, David Sheppard and wife Laine of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Ryan, Joel and Tyler Everett, Lauren Quiroga, Cole and Carter Sheppard; one sister, Doris Sink of Morganton.
