Evelyn Michael Truell, age 94 of Southmont passed away Wednesday morning at the home of her son and daughter-in-law where she had made her home for the past 3 years during her declining health. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, April 15, 2024, at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Shane Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the graveside service. Evelyn was born July 8, 1929, to Chester Adams Michael, Sr. and Mary Alice Long Michael. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and had served as a youth teacher and coordinator of Bible School. She was a graduate of East Carolina University and a retired teacher with Lexington City Schools where she taught language Arts, Social Studies, and Art at Lexington Middle School. She was a member of the Lexington/Davidson County School Personnel Association and was historian for many years and was also a member of the State and National Association of Educators. She was a member of the American Legion Post 8 Auxiliary and had served as the President for 2 years and chaired many committees. She served one term as 15th District President and was appointed to many state committees, her favorite being Children and Youth. Evelyn enjoyed doing volunteer work at the local hospital and traveling and one of her most interesting cities was Paris. She participated in the Little League Summer program, serving as secretary and treasurer. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth Yarbrough Truell; brothers, Chester Adams “June” Michael, Jr. and Harold Fred Michael; sisters, Wilma Michael Monsees and Pauline Michael Palmer. Surviving are her son Lee Truell and wife Jamie of High Rock Lake, granddaughters, Skylar Brooke Truell Lineback and Sommer Nicole Truell; great-grandson, Carter Lineback; great-granddaughter, Williamina Saige Lineback.
