Farrell David Koontz, 96, left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 27, 2014, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Beulah United Church of Christ, with Pastor Trudy Irving officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Wednesday, October 29,2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
Mr. Koontz was born September 16, 1918, the son of the late Webster Otis Koontz and Lonie Sink Koontz. He spent his adult life working and traveling for Armour and Company, Davis Milling Company and J.P. Green Milling Company as Sales Manager. He loved Farrellou Farms and his Aberdeen Angus cattle and preferred to be known as a cattleman. He was the last surviving charter member of the Welcome Civitan Club.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 77 years, the love of his life, Mattie Lucille Byerly Koontz. They have two daughters, Betty Koontz Reeves and Shirley Koontz Midyette and son-in-law, Saunders Midyette; grandson, Jonathan Reeves and his two sons, Jared and Jeffrey; grandson, Christopher Reeves; grandson, Lindsay Reeves and wife, Toshja and their three daughters, Payten, Mattie and Sydnie; grandson, Buxton Midyette and wife, Lisa and their three daughters, Mary Buxton, Elizabeth Byerly and India Baynton; granddaughter, Lenora Midyette Hunter and husband Justin and their two sons, Zachary and Aidan; and sister, Marion Koontz Hampton of Winston-Salem.
