Faye Dean Evans Salley 84, of Welcome-Arcadia Road, Lexington, passed away Thursday night (12-18-2014) surrounded by her family in Forsyth Medical Center after declining health of one and one half years.
A funeral service to celebrate Faye Dean’s life will be held at 11:00 am Monday 12-22-2014 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member with Rev. Karen Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Olivet United Methodist Cemetery.
The family will see friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday 12-21-2014 at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the home.
Faye Dean was born in Davidson County on April 28, 1930 to Paul Franklin Evans Sr. and Imo Lou Martin Evans. She was a graduate of Duke University, taught in the Durham City School System, the Davidson County School System and retired as a teacher with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System. At Mt. Olivet she was the church historian, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the scholarship committee. Faye Dean and Bruce also delivered senior meals. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Donald Bruce Salley of the home; son, Donald M. Salley and wife Kathryn of Lexington; daughter, Susan S. Abbott of Greensboro; brother, Paul Franklin Evans Jr. and wife Isabelle of Lexington; sister, Dorothy E. Rozier of Atlanta Ga; grandson, Michael Salley and wife Melodie of Zionville NC; nephew John Paul Rozier; nieces, Cynthia Evans and husband Barry Custer of Washington DC, Elizabeth Evans and husband Jon Glass of Norfolk VA, and Marie Evans and husband Pete Peterson of Lexington, and a grandnephew and two grandnieces.
