Mrs. Fern Malcolm Nifong, 79, of Ryan Way South, and formerly of Meadow Trail, Midway, went home to the Lord Sunday afternoon, May 25, 2008, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Hebron United Church of Christ where she was a member. Rev. Dave Carter will conduct the service, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Nifong was born August 21, 1928 in Forsyth County to David Kirkland Malcolm and Clara Doty Malcolm. She was a graduate of RJ Reynolds High School, a homemaker and was active in her church having formerly served as the director of the Children’s Choir and Children’s Ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband Clay H. Nifong to whom she was married for 54 years, and a son Clay H. Nifong, Jr.
Surviving are five daughters. Nanette Allen and husband Mike, Tanya Roberts and husband Brian, both of Winston-Salem, Robyn Bryant and husband Michael of Oakland Park, FL, Cyanne Nifong of High Point, and Amber Joyce and husband Dean of Clemmons, a nephew RG Nifong, Jr. and wife Donna of Winston-Salem, nine grandchildren Clay Mize, Jessica Mize-Wilson and husband Derek, Christian Roberts, Lauren Allen, Casey Allen, Matthew Allen, Joshua Bryant, Thomas Nifong, and Jacob Nifong; and five great-grandchildren Kayleigh Mize, Kennedy Mize, Rylan Wilson, Bliss Joyce, and Sabastian Joyce, and dear special friends Jerry and Nora Miller.
The family will receive friends following the service at Hebron United Church of Christ.
