Ferrell Eugene "Gene" Travis

Ferrell Eugene (Gene) Travis, 71 of Kesler Rd., Lexington died Monday October 11, 2010 at the home of his son, Ray Staples after several years of declining health. A funeral service will be 11:00 at Friday October 15, 2010 at Higher Ground Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday October 14, 2010 at Davidson Funeral Home. Mr. Travis was born in Iredell County on April 10, 1939 to Roby Travis and Eva Jane Nichols Travis. He was retired from Jarrell Contractors in Salisbury and served in the US Navy. He was a member of Moose Lodge 2019. Surviving are sons, John Staples and Ray Staples and wife Tammy all of Lexington, grandchildren, Aimee Evansteiner, Issac Staples, Kelsey Staples, Joshua Staples and Lucas Staples, brothers, Mackie Travis of Linwood, Ray Travis of Clemmons and Elbert Travis of Aurora, sisters, Sylvia Benfield of Greer, SC and Fleta Grant Corner of Lexington.
