Finch Leonard

Finch Vestal Leonard, 88, of Westover Drive, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at his home. The funeral will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 16 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Clyde Akers. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday prior to the funeral service. Mr. Leonard was born January 21, 1924, in Davidson County, to Robert Cicero Leonard and Mae Parks Leonard. He was retired from Auto Paint and Supply Co. and a member of Second United Church of Christ. Mr. Leonard proudly served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa during World War II. He was a life member of VFW Post 3074, American Legion Post 8, Amvets Post 13, and DAV. He was preceded in death by his brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his loving wife, Mary Troutman Leonard of the home; daughters, Barbara Lipford-Holmes, and husband, Jerry, Cheryl Gullett and husband, Bryce, and Michele Leonard, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; his sister, Myrtle Whittington of Lexington; and his special brother in law, Jack Troutman and wife, Mazie, of Lexington.
