Flora "Babe" Mattie Hartley Shaw

Flora “Babe” Mattie Hartley Shaw, 89, of NC Highway 8, died Friday, September 11, 2015, at her home. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2015, at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Pearson officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, and other times at the home. Mrs. Shaw was born August 13, 1926, in Davidson County, to Clarence Hartley and Mamie Leonard Hartley. She was retired from Dacotah Mills where she had been a weaver for over 40 years. She was a member of Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Kenneth “Bud” Shaw; son, Aaron Gilbert “Bill” Shaw; daughter, Flora Jane Shaw; brother, Olin Hartley; and sisters, Mildred Wampler and Dora “Dokie” Crook. Surviving are sons, Tony Gerald Shaw and wife Martha, and David Kenneth Shaw, all of Lexington; daughter, Martha Jean Shaw Reid of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Rachael Shaw of Lexington; six grandchildren, Tony Gerald “Chuck” Shaw II, David Michael “Mike” Shaw and wife Christina, Jeremy Scott Shaw and wife Brittney, Tonia Pennington and husband Kevin, Bryan Shaw and wife Janet, and Jamie Simmons and husband John; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsie Wagner and Lillian Warfford; and sister-in-law, Lucille Hartley of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to thank Hospice of Davidson County for the special care and love given to Mrs. Shaw and her family.
