Floyd Jackson Jarvis, 85, of Little Rock Avenue, died Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Freedom Baptist Church by Preacher Clyde Akers. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Jarvis was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Cooleemee to Robert Lee Jarvis and Carrie Davis Jarvis. He was retired from Jarvis Enterprise and was employed at Dixie Furniture in Lexington for many years. Preceding him in death were his wife, Dorothy Gallimore Jarvis; a son, Tommy Jarvis; a daughter, Sandy Kearns; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Jarvis; three grandsons, Robbie Jarvis, Chris Jarvis and Philip James; and one great-grandson, Skyler Livengood.
Surviving are sons, Robert Jarvis and his wife, Pat, Richard Jarvis and his wife, Barbara, of Lexington, Pete Jarvis of Clemmons and Roger Jarvis of Florence, S.C.; daughters, Becky Cornatzer and her husband, Johnny, of Linwood, Carolyn Hanes and her husband, Steve, of Lexington, Kathy Maddy and her husband, Ken, of South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Gloria Jarvis of Lexington; son-in-law, Radford Kearns of Lexington; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and sisters, Eva Shaw and her husband, Ralph, Ruby Leonard and Pearl Carlton.
The family will receive friends and family from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
