Floyd "Mac" Herbert Mccracken

Floyd (Mac as he was known to his friends) was born in Greene County, PA on May 7, 1922. Enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in North Africa in WWII and was discharged in 1946. With creation of the US Air Force, Floyd re-enlisted in 1947 and went on to serve during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts retiring in 1971 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his retirement at Eglin Air Force Base he served as the administrator of the hospital and also owner operator of McCracken Realty in Fort Walton Beach area. Floyd and his wife of 61 years Mary moved to Davidson County, NC in 1992 to be closer to their grandchildren. Floyd enjoyed vegetable gardening, reading his bible, fellowship with friends and his role as a loving and generous family patriarch. Floyd is preceded in death by his wife Mary Julia, daughter Nancy Jarvis; parents Jesse and Anne McCracken; two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are son David McCracken and wife Gloria; a granddaughter, Ashley McCracken Gutman and her husband Mark and a grandson Sean McCracken. A memorial service will be held Thursday , May 26, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with Pastor Chris Bitterman officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers make donations to Alzheimers Association, P. O. Box 715, Greensboro, NC 27402.
