Foy Dermont Floyd, 94, of Hedrick Mill Road, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice Home following a serious illness of one week.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Becks Reformed Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Gerald Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mr. Floyd was born February 14, 1918, in Davidson County, to Wiley Franklin Floyd and Caroline Bell Parks Floyd. He was owner/operator of Floyd Sawmill and a farmer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Greer Floyd, who died February 21, 2009; brothers, Harlan Floyd, James Floyd Sr., Arnold “Bob” Floyd, and Ray Floyd; sisters, Fallie Haltom and Ruth Surratt; and grandson, Anthony Michael Floyd.
Surviving are his son, David Floyd and wife, Bonnie, of Lexington; grandchildren, Keith Randall Floyd and Christopher David Floyd and wife, Michelle; step-grandchildren, Pam Harris and husband, Dale, and Marc Mize and wife, Angie; great-grandchild, Arianna Floyd; step-great-grandchildren, Cullan Greene, Megan Harris, Dylan Harris, Mallory Mize, and Ivy Tietsort; brothers, Paul Floyd and wife, Louise, and Roby Floyd, all of Lexington; brother-in-law, Jim Surratt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mr. Floyd’s caregiver June Rhodes, who’s kindness was greatly appreciated.
