Foy Gilbert Harvey, 87 of Allred Rd., Lexington, died Saturday evening at the Brian Center of Lexington after declining health of ten years.
Mr. Harvey was born in Davidson County on June 27, 1918 to Minnie Harvey, he was retired from Frank Ix & Son. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII as a Sergeant with the 32nd Fighter Squadron. He would later receive the American Theater Campaign Medal, Good Conduct and the Victory Medal. Mr. Harvey was very active at his church, having served as Past Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, Elder, Usher and Softball Coach for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Odell Harvey and a sister, Margaret Cox.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ernesteen Swing Harvey of the home; two sons, Ricky Harvey and wife, Teresa; and Danny Harvey and wife, Becky, all of Lexington;
a daughter, Sheila Hedrick and husband Steve of Lexington; eight grandchildren: Tina Hedrick; Stephanie Hedrick Saintsing and husband, John; Joseph Harvey and wife, Colleen; Kelly Everhart and husband, David; Brandi Everhart and husband, Johnny; Sallie Stroud and husband, Brandon; Gavin Kirk and Trisha Harvey; and eight great grandchildren: Grace & Dylan Saintsing; Taylor, Sydney, and Camdyn Harvey; Chase Everhart, Kaleb Everhart, and Collin Kirk; and a brother in law, Grady Cox of High Point.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 24 at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ, where he was a member for 55 years by Rev. John Roberts. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday night at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and other times at the home on Allred Rd., Lexington.
