Frances Beck Dougan, age 85, a devoted mother and grandmother, of Iroquois Trail, Lexington, passed away Wednesday morning (4-22-2009) at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem. Memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday (4-25-2009) at Second Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kurt W. Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
Frances was born in Davidson County, November 23, 1923 to William Thomas Beck and Etta Mae Hinkle Beck. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Thomas Dougan in 1999, six sisters, Lula Everhart, Etta Jordan, Fannie Freedle, Ellen Everhart, Flora Patton and Mary Ruth Segers, four brothers, Crawford, Richard, Sam, and Charlie Beck; and granddaughter, Kendra Leann Dougan..
Surviving are: one daughter, Rita Lohr and husband Buddy of Lexington; one son, Kent Dougan and wife Linda of Lexington; three grandchildren, John Lohr of Chapel Hill, Jay Lohr and wife Kim of Lexington and Pearce Dougan of Lexington; two great grandchildren, Gray and Sophie Lohr of Lexington, special nieces, Margaret Hiatt and Marie Moncus.
The family would like to thank, Cheryl Knotts and Arlene Leak for their care and love, and the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their compassion and care.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 until 8 pm Friday night and at other times at the home of daughter Rita Lohr, 226 Iroquois Trail, Lexington.
