Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Wagner Leonard, 95, of Bethesda Road, died Friday, February 06, at Hinkle Hospice House.
A funeral was held on Sunday, February 8 at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Rev. Daniel Miller presided.
Mrs. Leonard was born April 28, 1919, in Davidson County, to Samuel Ross Wagner and Cynthia Elizabeth Hayworth Wagner. She and her husband was owner/operator of LenWag Dairy Farm. At her church she was historian, organist and pianist. The Bethesda History Room is named in her honor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Numa C. Leonard; daughter, Carolyn Essick; sister, Virginia Tussey; and grandchildren, Pete Essick and Mike Essick; sons-in-law Bob Essick, Gene Pope and Don Hunt.
Surviving are daughters, Crissy Pope, Ann Brown (Russell) of Lexington, Debbie Leonard of Hillsborough; and sister, Rossine Weisner of Lexington; grandchildren, Joe Essick (Dawn), Fred Pope, III (Susan), Jane Lanning (Barry), Donna Spencer (Dr. David Spencer), Dr. J. Craig Hunt (Denise), and Carol Stephens (Sam); great-grandchildren, Hence Essick, Emily McMahan, Elizabeth and Brandon Lanning, Lauren Stalls, Amanda Petruzzi, Fred Pope, IV, Luke, Isaac, and Seth Spencer, Charis Thanos, Bethany Kassouf, Aaren, Melissa, Martha, and Hannah Hunt, Nate and Susan Stephens; great-great-grandchildren Dylan and Macy Essick, Gabe, Luria, Aven and Michael Thanos, and Ericson Kassouf.
