Frances Louise Peninger Leonard

Frances Louise Peninger Leonard, 83, of Leonard Road, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after declining health of one year. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at First Baptist Church Chapel in Lexington with Dr. Ray N. Howell 3rd and the Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Leonard was born December 26, 1925, in Davidson County, to John Henry Peninger and Frances Isabelle Hedrick Peninger. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College class of 1944 and a tax appraiser for Davidson County tax department until her retirement in 1991. She was married to Dale Craver Leonard who died in 2007. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald M. Peninger and Rayford Peninger; and a sister, Valinda Lohr. Surviving are her son, Randy Leonard and his wife, Cindy, of Lexington; and one grandson, Jonathan Leonard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of the son.
