Frances Glynn Nifong Atkins

Frances Atkins, 88, of Winston Salem, passed away Sunday evening, June 23, 2024, in her home surrounded by family.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Hebron Cemetery, 129 Hebron Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107, with Chaplain Carol Wilkinson officiating.

Frances was born on September 21, 1935, in Davidson County, to the late Raymond Glen Nifong and Mary Lois Sink Nifong. She worked for over 30 years for Western Electric (AT&T) in Administration.

Frances is remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who would go above and beyond for her family. One of her most favorite things to do was to cook on Sundays and have everyone over for dinner and fellowship.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin James Atkins Jr; brother, Doyle Nifong; and sister, Elizabeth Ann Adams.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Mike Atkins (Christine), of Winston-Salem; daughter, Pam Richardson (Barry), of Winston-Salem; sisters, Nancy Johnson (Jerry), of Charlotte, and Susan Heath, of Winston-Salem; brother, Raymond “RG” Nifong (Donna), of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Marc Atkins (Jessica), Jennifer Pabon (Edwin), Ian Richardson (Kimberly); and five great-grandchildren, Payton Atkins, Lindsay Atkins, Gavin Pabon, Tyson Pabon, and Calvin Richardson.
