Francis Eugene "Barney" Barnhill, 72, of Turner Road, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Revs. Clarence Ballew and Jason Cable. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park
Mr. Barnhill was born in Columbus County on Nov. 17, 1934, to Wilbur Edgar Barnhill Sr. and Zelma Crowell Barney Barnhill. He was a former employee of Coble Dairy with 41 years of service and also worked at the Barbecue Center part time. He was a member of High Point Freewill Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ricky Barnhill.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Newton Barnhill of the home; two sons, Keith Barnhill and his wife, Melissa, and Jimmy Dean Barnhill, all of Lexington; one daughter, Vicky Barnhill of Lexington; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Linwood "Barney" Barnhill and Michael Barnhill, both of Lexington, and Wilbur Barnhill Jr., Thomas Barnhill and his wife, Vera, and David Barnhill and his wife, Vanessa, all of Wilmington; and five sisters, Evelyn Stevenson of Thomasville, Elsie Brown and her husband, Russell, Juanita Payne and her husband, Bobby, and Helen Williamson and her husband, Barney, all of Wilmington, and Louise Wiley and her husband, Paul, of Quincy, La.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home and other times at the home on Turner Road.
