Frank Taverniti age 90 passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at home with family by his side.
A celebration of his life will be held 5:00 pm Sunday, March 1st 2015 at Our Lady of The Highways Catholic Church in Thomasville with Father Jim Turner.
Inurnment at National Cemetery of Salisbury will be at a later date.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
Frank was born November 20th 1924 in McComas, WV to Joseph and Mary Taverniti. He was a member of Our Lady of The Highways Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He served in the United States Army during WWII with the 787th Tank Battalion and had retired with Owens Illinois.
Frank enjoyed volunteering at The Crisis Ministry and spending lots of great times with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Helen Hanna Taverniti, grandson; Frank Jason, brother; Victor Taverniti and his sister Louise Dickson.
Surviving are his ten children; Joseph Taverniti ( Nancy ) of Pensacola, FL; Michael Taverniti ( Maxanne ) of Williamsburg, VA; Deborah Cole ( Barry ) of Las Vegas, NV, Denise Mendenhall ( Brad ) of Winston Salem, Diane Hedrick of Roaring Branch, PA, Mary Ann Simpson ( Steve ) of Clemmons, Nancy Sellers ( Craig ) of Winston Salem, Frank Taverniti of Winston Salem, Charles Taverniti ( Lisa Marie ) of Midway and Ellen Adams of Winston Salem, twenty three grandchildren; Dominic, Alecia, Angela, Candala, Joshua, Elliot, Hannah, Samuel, April, Laurie, David, Kelly, Kristi, Layne, Michael, Kelly, Trevor, John, Charlie, Anastasia, Nickalaus, Nicole and several great grandchildren.
