Frank Arrington Thacker

Frank Arrington Thacker, age 81, of Park Street, Lexington passed away Tuesday morning (November 23, 2010) at Hinkle Hospice House. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday (November 28, 2010) at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Howell, 3rd officiating. Interment in First Baptist Church Columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Frank was born in Guilford County, December 15, 1928 to John Wesley Thacker and Lena Hammer Thacker. He was a veteran of the US Army having served his country in the Korean War. He was a former, active member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church, Sunday School Teacher, Lay Leader and Church Treasurer. Later he joined First Baptist Church of Lexington. He was a graduate of Duke University class of 1949 and received his masters from Columbia University in 1955. He was a former employee of Exxon in New York City and later a Professor with Davidson County Community College where he worked for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Iris Beck and two brothers, J.W. Thacker and Allen Thacker. Surviving are: his wife of 55 years, Ursula Schuster Thacker of the home; two daughters, Laura Owen and husband Brad of Lexington and Beth Thacker of Lubbock, TX; four grandchildren, Jessica Jackson, Rachael Owen, Blair Trexler and Blessing Benibo; one great grandchild, Rance Jackson; one sister Gene Herrmann of Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to, First Baptist Church, PO Box 436, Lexington, NC 27293; Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to Davidson Medical Ministries, PO Box 584, Lexington, NC 27293.
