Frankie Etta Lail Cook

Frankie Etta Lail Cook, 79, died at 11:22 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Hospice Home of High Point after an illness of six weeks. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel by the Rev. Larry Michael, Dr. Wade Laughter and the Rev. Dan Walser. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Cook was born in Catawba County on Sept. 6, 1928, to Frank Lail and Bertha Shook Lail. She was a homemaker and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie Lail and Robert Merl Lail; her sisters, Carrie Holland, Juanita Bolick and Uma Caldwell; and a son-in-law, David Koontz. Surviving are her husband, Ira "Joe" McLean Cook of the home; daughters Una Miller and her husband, Dale, of Lexington and Pat Koontz of Lexington; grandchildren Lora Miller, Jeanie Surratt and her husband, Scott, Lane Koontz and his wife, Becky, Greg Miller and his wife, Emily, and Jody Jackson and her husband, Keith; and great-grandchildren Charlie Goforth and his wife, Heather, Nikki Goforth, Jordan Koontz and Wesley Miller; a great-great-grandchild, Izabell Goforth; and sisters Pauline Hedrick and Irene Matthews, both of Hickory. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and at other times at the home of the daughter, 382 Latham Drive, Lexington.
