Franklin Delano Ivey, 74, of Arden Road, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 2 P.M. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bud Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Ivey was born April 28, 1937, in Dillon, SC to Henry Laster Ivey and Edna Elleree Tarte Ivey. He was retired from Link Taylor Plant 12 and a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Freeman Ivey on December 12, 2010; sons, Frankie Ivey and Brian Swing; a brother, James H. “J.H.” Ivey; and a sister, Bertie McRae.
Surviving are a son, Randall Ivey and wife, Lea, of Lexington; daughter, Judy Garcia and husband, Endre, of San Antonio, Texas and Brenda Bailey of Thomasville; grandchildren, Kristen, Brandon, Emanuel, Candace, Bruce, and Jacob; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Major Harris Ivey and wife, Shelby, Jimmy B. Ivey, and Billy D. Ivey, all of Thomasville, Johnson L. Ivey, Marion L. Ivey and wife, Annie Mae, all of Dillon, S.C.; special brother, Edward Freeman of Kernersville; and sisters, Vivian “Skeeter” Matson and Barbara J. “PeeWee”Hunt, both of Dillon, S.C.
