Franklin Ray Koontz

Mr. Franklin Ray Koontz, age 69, of Old pasture Road, passed away Thursday, December, 11, 2014 at his home, after a sudden illness. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday at Smith Grove Baptist Church where he was a member, with Rev. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Sunday and at other times at the home. Mr. Koontz was born on December 22, 1944 to Swadie L. and Mildred Q. Koontz. He was a retired employee of Southern Bell. He was a member of Spencer Moose Lodge; loved his family, extended family, his animals and his crossword puzzels. Surviving are his wife, Judy Koontz of the home; daughter, Lori Phillips (Eddie) of Lexington; son, Tony Ray Koontz (LuAnn) of Linwood; grandchildren, Franklin and Kacy Phillips, Jordan and Hunter Harkey; great-grandson, Gunner Phillips; sister, Yvonne French of Nicholasville, KY, brothers, Liberty V. Koontz of Rockingham and Jerry M. Koontz (Nancy) of Linwood. Memorials may be made to, Smith Grove Baptist Church, 3462 Sowers Road, Linwood, NC 27299.
