Franklin Gleech Mason, 79, of Hawthorne Lane, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Revs. Kelly Groce, Doug Rowe, and Glenn Mason officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery in Mooresville. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Mr. Mason was born October 8, 1933, in Wilson County, to Norman Kern Mason and Blonza Lynch Mason. He had served in the U.S. Coast Guard; earned a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University; and was a member of Lexington Civitans Club. He was retired from Lexington Furniture Industries. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Mason Cannady.
Surviving are loving wife of 53 years, Nancy Thompson Mason of the home; daughter, Katie Mason McVeety and husband, Andrew, of Huntersville; grandchildren, Mason Elizabeth McVeety and Margaret Rock McVeety; brother, Michael Kemp Mason of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
