Fred Wayne Brinkle

Mr. Fred Wayne Brinkle, 84, often referred to as “mule”, passed away peacefully at his home following a decline in health on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.

Mr. Brinkle grew up in the city of Lexington where he enjoyed playing sports.  He married the love of his life and moved to Tyro where he raised his family.  He was a hard worker, retiring in 1986 from McClean Trucking.  Wayne enjoyed a 20 year tractor pulling career traveling across the southeast.  In his later years, he enjoyed spending time gardening, watching his grandchildren play sports, and working in his shop.  He loved his family and was heartbroken after the death of his wife and daughter.

Wayne was born on December 28, 1933 to Mr. and Mrs. Quincy Brinkle.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gates; his sister, Ruby “Boots” Gibson’ his beloved wife, Ms. Nancy Beck Brinkle; and his daughter, Ms. Rhonda Brinkle Haywood.

“Fred” is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Pattie Brinkle; his granddaughters, Jennifer Osborne (Chris), Erica Haywood; his grandsons, Shaun Brinkle, Chad Brinkle (Leighanne); his great-grandson, Matthew Upchurch and 3 step-grandchildren, Tatum, Evan and Fallon Osborne.  We will miss your humor and how you enjoyed joking around.  We will remember and cherish all of the time and memories with you.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 27 from 6-8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington and at other times at the residence of Mike and Pattie.  A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 28 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church where he was a member with the Reverend Vern Kinard officiating and burial will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery.
