Fred C. “Bill” Myers, 85, of Lexington, died Monday, August 11, 2008, at Carolina House of Lexington.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Hospice Chaplain, Tim Miller.
Mr. Myers was born March 25, 1923, in Davidson County, to Phillip Arthur Myers and Fleta Everhart Myers. He graduated from Lexington Senior High School, where he played football and he continued to play football all four years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated. He entered the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Lieutenant and received the Purple Heart for his service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur and John; and sisters, Elizabeth, Dorothy, Virginia, and Emily.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jessie Gordon Myers, of the home; his children, Elizabeth Knight of Charlotte, Barbara Clark and husband, John D. Clark Sr., Ellen Payne and husband, Robert A. Payne, all of Burlington; grandchildren, Token Embry and husband, Jason, Rebekah Clark, John David Clark Jr. and wife, Ashley, Elijah Clark, Josiah Payne, and Abigail Payne; and great-grandchild, Naomi Embry.
There will not be a public visitation.
